What are Academic Centers or Institutes?
An academic center or institute is an organization formed within a school or a unit, or as a collaborative initiative involving more than one school or unit, to enhance the educational, research, and/or service missions of the University. Such entities are governed by the Policy on Establishing Academic Centers and Institutes. Academic Centers or Institutes require formal Executive Vice President and Provost approval before they are established.
Proposals that impact the academic curriculum may require additional review time and approvals (e.g., SACSCOC substantive change).
