Common Data Set

The University of Virginia participates in the Common Data Set (CDS) initiative. Partipants, which include both colleges and universities in the higher education community, as well as publishers as represented by the College Board, Peterson's, and U.S. News & World Report, work together to provide--and improve the quality of-- information on institutional data.

The CDS initiative is guided by data items and definitions used by the U.S. Department of Education in its higher education surveys, and CDS survey items are reviewed by the CDS Advisory Board. The Common Data Set is a compilation of most frequently requested statistics and other descriptive information concerning students, faculty, instructional programs, and student services available at the University of Virginia. To learn more visit the CDS web site.
